# Acceptable Use Policy

Practical rules for safe, lawful use of Ilmiya's educational services.

This Acceptable Use Policy governs conduct on Ilmiya services and approved integrations. Users must comply with these requirements when accessing the service or handling information obtained through it. This policy operates under the relevant [Terms of Service](https://ilmiya.com/terms-of-service/), [Master Service Agreement](https://ilmiya.com/master-service-agreement/) or [Reseller Agreement](https://ilmiya.com/partner-program-agreement/). An institution may set additional educational rules for its users, consistent with applicable law.

<a id="legal-compliance"></a>

## Legal Compliance

You must use Ilmiya in accordance with applicable law and the permissions granted by your governing agreement. You must not use another tool, account or intermediary to carry out conduct prohibited through Ilmiya itself.

These rules apply worldwide without a separate country-by-country approval process. The standard service hosts, stores and processes Customer Data in the United States under the DPA; local-country data residency is not currently offered. Do not submit data for a use that cannot lawfully operate under that arrangement. Required transfer safeguards and any expressly agreed special service requirement continue to apply; this policy cannot waive the law.

<a id="your-responsibilities"></a>

## Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for your own conduct, the content you choose to submit and the permissions you exercise. Institutions must supervise authorized use under their own obligations and preserve access controls. Do not use the service as the sole control for an activity where a failure could cause death or serious injury, or represent it as an emergency, medical or continuously monitored safety service.

The MSA permits institutions to provide their own paid, white-label educational offering using the purchased platform and included curriculum. The separately accepted Reseller Agreement permits the resale it authorizes. Those rights do not allow sale of credentials, access outside the purchased scope or standalone redistribution of a content library without a license.

<a id="prohibited-businesses"></a>

## Prohibited Businesses

Do not use Ilmiya to conduct, advertise or facilitate unlawful or deceptive commercial activity. This includes counterfeit goods or credentials, identity fraud, illegal drug or weapons sales, pyramid schemes, deceptive investment or technical-support offers, and unauthorized resale of licensed material. Fabricated testimonials, fake engagement and claims designed to mislead customers are prohibited.

The service must not operate as a marketplace for adult content, firearms, ammunition, explosives or other dangerous materials. Commercial sexual services and sexual exploitation have no place in the service. These restrictions do not prohibit a lawful lesson about a regulated subject, legitimate institutional fundraising or an authorized educational offering. The purpose, audience and context remain relevant.

<a id="protect-the-service"></a>

<a id="phishing-and-security"></a>

## Phishing and Security

Access only accounts, environments and records you are authorized to use. Do not bypass security controls, evade a suspension, overload the service, distribute malware or test a vulnerability without prior authorization. You may report a suspected vulnerability without exploiting it or obtaining additional data.

Use approved interfaces for automated access. Do not scrape data or exceed authorized limits. Approved account provisioning, accessibility tools and documented integrations remain permitted within their authorization.

Do not resell access without permission, remove ownership notices, or copy the service’s protected technology. Reverse engineering restrictions apply only to the extent the law permits. Independent development and lawful research do not authorize misuse of confidential information or customer data.

Do not create a deceptive login, invitation or payment request, disguise a malicious destination, harvest credentials, or impersonate support personnel to obtain access. Do not disrupt communications, inflate traffic or engagement through abusive automation, or help another person evade an account restriction. Required account provisioning and authorized accessibility tools remain permitted.

<a id="respect-privacy-and-consent"></a>

<a id="privacy-and-impersonation"></a>

## Privacy and Impersonation

Use personal information only when you have authority and a lawful purpose. Before enabling student access, the Customer must establish lawful school authorization or obtain and document the parental or other permission required for the selected use under [School and Institution Consent](https://ilmiya.com/parental-consent/). Do not bypass those requirements. Student records, family details, private messages, voice recordings, transcripts and AI conversations must not be published or exported outside the permitted audience.

Do not secretly record another person, clone their voice or likeness without required permission, or present fabricated audio, images or messages as a real person’s authentic communication. Check the recipient before sharing and use the permissions supplied by the service.

Do not upload passwords, authentication codes or payment-card security codes. Sensitive information may be used only in a supported feature and where the customer’s agreement permits it. Do not use Ilmiya to process protected health information subject to HIPAA unless Ilmiya has expressly agreed to that use and the required agreement is in place.

The [Global Privacy Policy](https://ilmiya.com/privacy-policy/), [Children’s Privacy notice](https://ilmiya.com/privacy-disclosure/) and [Data Protection Addendum](https://ilmiya.com/data-protection-addendum/) explain data practices and responsibilities. A person’s consent does not automatically make every proposed data use lawful.

Any privacy information you give users must accurately describe your use of their information. Do not claim that information is anonymous when people can still be identified. A school directory or institution-provided contact list must not be repurposed as a sales list. Do not sell student information or use it for advertising, unrelated profiling or unauthorized model training.

Voice and AI features remain optional. Do not make acceptance of those optional features a condition of access to the core learning service or bypass a required separate choice.

<a id="cybersquatting"></a>

## Cybersquatting

Do not register, hold or use an account, domain or social-media identity to impersonate another person or organization, mislead users about affiliation, or sell access back to the legitimate rights holder. A white-label domain must identify your own authorized offering without claiming ownership of Ilmiya’s underlying technology.

<a id="email-marketing-standards"></a>

## Email Marketing Standards

Do not use the service for fraud, unlawful sales, unsolicited bulk marketing or other activities outside its authorized educational and operational purpose. Any lawful commercial message must comply with applicable marketing rules and the recipient’s choices. School contact information is not a marketing list.

For commercial email subject to U.S. CAN-SPAM requirements:

- Identify the sender accurately in headers and routing information, and use an honest subject line.
- Make the advertising nature clear and include a valid physical postal address.
- Provide a clear opt-out that can stop all marketing email and remains operational for at least 30 days after sending.
- Honor an opt-out within 10 business days without a fee or requiring more than an email reply or a single webpage visit.
- Do not sell or transfer opted-out addresses, except to a service provider helping you comply with the opt-out.
- Oversee providers sending messages on your behalf; outsourcing does not remove your legal duties.

Follow any stricter permission or timing rule that applies where you send or receive messages. Do not disguise advertising as an essential account notice or use student records for marketing. These standards do not authorize a messaging activity outside the Customer’s purchased scope.

<a id="misinformation-and-disinformation"></a>

## Misinformation and Disinformation

Do not knowingly fabricate evidence, impersonate an authoritative source or distribute manipulated material intended to deceive people in a way that causes harm. This includes false emergency instructions, fraudulent educational credentials and misleading claims used to exploit learners or families. A contested idea, a quotation for study or an ordinary error is not automatically misconduct. The educational context and any risk to people must be considered.

<a id="protect-people"></a>

<a id="illegal-activity"></a>

<a id="illegal-activity-and-protection-of-people"></a>

## Illegal Activity and Protection of People

Do not use Ilmiya to threaten, harass, exploit or unlawfully discriminate against someone. Child sexual abuse material, grooming, sexual exploitation and attempts to obtain a child’s personal information for an unauthorized purpose are prohibited.

Do not encourage violence, terrorism or self-harm, publish another person’s sensitive information to intimidate them, or send deceptive requests for money or credentials. Do not distribute malicious code or impersonate another person to mislead someone.

Educational discussion of history, health, literature and other difficult subjects must be considered in context. A legitimate lesson, a request for help or a good-faith report of harm is not prohibited merely because it describes abuse, dangerous conduct or a disputed idea.

Do not organize targeted abuse or exclusion based on a protected characteristic, including race, religion, nationality, disability or sex. Do not distribute sexual or gratuitously violent material to exploit, intimidate or expose learners to inappropriate content. Age-appropriate instruction and legitimate discussion remain subject to the educational-context safeguard above.

<a id="intellectual-property"></a>

## Intellectual Property

<a id="respect-rights-and-lawful-purpose"></a>

Use material only if you own it or have a legal right to use it. Educational use is not a blanket copyright exception. Do not misrepresent an endorsement or affiliation with a person, institution or brand.

Where Ilmiya supplies an image, video, curriculum resource or other material, use it within the applicable license. Do not imply that a depicted person or brand endorses your offering without authority. Preserve required notices. Broader permissions granted by the rights holder remain available; an educational setting alone does not create a license.

<a id="use-ai-responsibly"></a>

<a id="responsible-ai-use"></a>

## Responsible AI Use

Follow your institution’s rules on AI assistance, attribution and assessment. Do not pass off AI-generated material as your own unaided work where that would break those rules. Do not use AI to create harmful deception, targeted harassment or an unauthorized imitation of someone’s voice.

Check important claims and arrange appropriate human review. Do not make AI the sole basis for a decision with significant effects on a learner, including admissions, grading, discipline or safeguarding. Do not use prompts or tools to bypass access controls, expose another user’s records or extract protected instructions and secrets.

Do not use Ilmiya to infer a learner’s emotions or intentions from their face, voice or other biometric signals in an educational setting, or to use biometric data to infer sensitive characteristics such as religion, race or sexual orientation. Ordinary speech transcription and pronunciation feedback do not authorize those uses. Human review does not remove any legal requirement that applies to an AI feature.

Customer information must not be sent to an outside AI service without the required authority and safeguards. Rules for approved providers and future customer-specific adaptation appear in the [Third-Party and Integrations Policy](https://ilmiya.com/third-party-integrations-policy/) and [Responsible AI Statement](https://ilmiya.com/responsible-ai-statement/).

<a id="how-we-enforce-these-rules"></a>

<a id="enforcement"></a>

## Enforcement

We may investigate reports and restrict content or affected access when we reasonably believe this is necessary to address harm, a material violation or a legal requirement. We may act immediately when delay would increase the risk, and may end access for a serious violation that cannot be cured or repeated material violations after notice, subject to the governing agreement. We may preserve relevant evidence and report information where legally required or permitted for a necessary protective purpose, subject to the Privacy Policy and DPA.

Where safe and lawful, we will explain the action and give the user or administrator an opportunity to correct the issue or request review at [support@ilmiya.com](mailto:support@ilmiya.com). Urgent action may be necessary before notice. We do not promise to review every message or detect every harmful event.

Suspension, termination and data access remain subject to the governing agreement and mandatory law. Ilmiya does not accept a general duty to monitor every user, message or output, and a review of one report is not a promise to identify every violation. This does not remove a specific legal duty or a commitment in the governing agreement. This policy does not create a separate indemnity owed by a child, learner or other invited user. Material changes follow the notice and amendment process in the governing agreement; posting a new version does not silently rewrite it.

<a id="report-a-concern"></a>

<a id="reporting-and-changes"></a>

## Reporting and Changes

Report service-related abuse or suspected unauthorized access to [support@ilmiya.com](mailto:support@ilmiya.com). Include the location of the content, relevant dates and enough context to investigate. Avoid copying sensitive material when a description will suffice. A learner may also ask an educator or other trusted adult for help.

For legal or privacy questions about these rules, use the [legal inquiry form](https://ilmiya.com/legal-inquiry/).

Ilmiya messages and AI tools are not emergency services or a continuously monitored safeguarding channel. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency service or responsible adult.

<a id="reporting-changes-and-indemnity"></a>

Any applicable commercial indemnity arises under the accepted MSA or Reseller Agreement, within its stated scope and limitations. This policy does not create a new indemnity for a learner or other invited user. Changes to these rules follow the governing agreement and any notice or acceptance it requires.
