# Navigating Aide

Aide has a clean three-panel layout built around conversation. Here’s a map of every area so you know where everything is.

## Layout Overview

| Area | Location | What it contains |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Sidebar** | Left | Conversation history, new chat button |
| **Main area** | Centre | Active chat conversation |
| **Tools panel** | Right | Calculator, board, document editor |
| **Top navigation** | Top | Links to Campus, Canvas, Awards, profile |
| **Input bar** | Bottom | Message input, file upload, voice, tools menu |

## Sidebar

The left sidebar lists all your past conversations. From here you can:

-   Click any conversation to load it
-   Start a **New Chat** from the button at the top
-   Delete a specific conversation
-   Clear your entire history

Conversations are listed with their auto-generated title and most recent timestamp.

## Main Chat Area

The centre of the screen is the active conversation. When you first open Aide with no conversation selected, a **welcome screen** appears with quick-action buttons:

| Quick Action | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Upload** | Open the file upload modal |
| **Board** | Open the drawing pad in the tools panel |
| **Calculator** | Open the calculator in the tools panel |
| **Document** | Switch to document creation mode |
| **Experts** | Go to the AI Experts page |

## Input Bar

The input bar at the bottom is where you type messages. It also contains:

-   **File upload** button — attach a file to your message
-   **Voice input** button — dictate your message by speaking
-   **Tools menu** — open the calculator, board, or document editor
-   **Send** button — submit your message (or press **Enter**; **Shift + Enter** adds a new line)

## Tools Panel

The right-side tools panel opens when you activate a tool (calculator, board, or document editor). It sits alongside the chat so you can use both simultaneously.

## Top Navigation

The top bar links you to other Ilmiya portals:

| Link | Destination |
| --- | --- |
| **Campus** | Back to the main learning portal |
| **Canvas** | Quran learning portal |
| **Awards** | Your learning achievements |
| **Profile / Logout** | Account settings and sign out |
