# AI Assistant

Canvas includes a voice-powered AI assistant dedicated to Quran learning. You can ask it questions about verses, request explanations, seek context, and have a natural voice conversation — without leaving Canvas.

<a id="accessing-the-ai-assistant"></a>

## Accessing the AI Assistant

1. Click **Assistant** in the top navigation bar of Canvas.
2. The assistant interface opens.
3. Allow microphone access when prompted.

> **Note**
>
> The AI Assistant is powered by a large language model with Quranic knowledge. Access to it depends on the **Aide** feature being enabled for your organization. Contact your administrator if it’s not available.

## How It Works

The assistant uses **real-time voice communication** — you speak, it listens, and it responds with both voice and text. The conversation is live and interactive, similar to speaking with a tutor.

1. Click **Start** to begin a session.
2. Speak your question or request clearly.
3. The assistant processes your speech and responds in real time.
4. Continue the conversation naturally — ask follow-up questions, request clarification, or change topics.
5. Click **End** to close the session when finished.

## What You Can Ask

The AI assistant is designed for Quran-related learning:

| Type of question | Example |
| --- | --- |
| **Verse meaning** | “What does Surah Al-Fatiha verse 5 mean?” |
| **Tafsir & context** | “What is the historical context of Surah Al-Kahf?” |
| **Tajweed rules** | “When do I apply Ghunnah?” |
| **Memorization help** | “Help me understand the difference between verse 3 and verse 4 of Surah Al-Baqarah” |
| **General Quran knowledge** | “How many Makki Surahs are there?” |
| **Word meanings** | “What does the word ‘taqwa’ mean in the Quran?” |

> **Tip**
>
> Be specific in your questions — the more context you provide, the more precise the assistant’s response will be. Mention the Surah name or number when asking about a specific verse.

<a id="voice-vs-text"></a>

## Voice vs Text

The assistant is primarily voice-based, but responses are also displayed as text on screen. This lets you:

- Read the response even in a noisy environment
- Refer back to earlier answers during the session
- Copy any part of the response for your notes

> **Caution**
>
> AI responses are generated automatically and should be treated as a learning aid — not a substitute for guidance from a qualified Islamic scholar or Quran teacher. Always verify important religious matters with a trusted authority.
