2. Or access settings from the **Settings** icon in the top navigation.

## Available Settings

<a id="arabic-script-font"></a>

### Arabic Script (Font)

Choose the Quranic script that feels most familiar to you:

| Option | Description |
| --- | --- |
| **Uthmani** | Global standard — used in most printed Qurans worldwide |
| **Madani** | The Madinah Mushaf script — widely used in the Middle East |
| **Indopak** | Script used in South Asian Quran teaching traditions |

→ See [Fonts & Display](https://ilmiya.com/docs/canvas/reading/fonts-and-display/) for a full comparison.

<a id="font-size"></a>

### Font Size

Adjust the size of the Arabic text across all reading views. Canvas offers 4 size levels (Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large) — use larger sizes on smaller screens or for more comfortable extended reading.

<a id="default-reciter"></a>

### Default Reciter

Set the reciter whose voice plays when you open any Surah or start the audio player. Choose from 12 available reciters.

1. Click the **Default Reciter** field.
2. Search by name or browse the list.
3. Select your preferred reciter.
4. Save — this reciter loads automatically on all Surahs.

You can still switch reciters on the fly from the audio player toolbar without changing your default.

→ See [Reciters](https://ilmiya.com/docs/canvas/audio-and-reciters/reciters/) for the full reciter list and profiles.

<a id="translation-language"></a>

### Translation Language

Select the language for verse translations shown in **Translate mode**. The available languages depend on your organization’s configuration.

* * *

<a id="tajweed-colouring"></a>

### Tajweed Colouring

Toggle Tajweed colour-coding on or off. When enabled, Arabic letters and words are highlighted according to the Tajweed rules that apply to them.

- **On** — Colours are shown on the text (default)
- **Off** — Plain Arabic text with no colour highlights

<a id="theme"></a>

### Theme

Switch between light and dark display themes:

| Theme | Best for |
| --- | --- |
| **Light** | Daytime reading, bright environments |
| **Dark** | Night reading, low-light environments, reducing eye strain |

## Saving Settings

Changes to settings are saved automatically as you make them — no save button required. Your preferences sync to your account and apply across all devices.

> **Tip**
>
> If you share a device with another learner, each person’s settings are tied to their own account — logging in restores your personal preferences automatically.
