# Stats Tab

The **Stats tab** is the second tab in a student’s Canvas detail view. It surfaces the student’s engagement and activity over time — streak, session count, total minutes spent, and a visual heatmap of when they were active.

## Opening the Stats Tab

1.  From the [Students List](https://ilmiya.com/docs/studio/canvas/students-list/), click a student.
2.  In the detail view, click the **Stats** tab.

## Summary Cards

At the top of the Stats tab, six summary cards show key engagement metrics:

| Card | What it shows |
| --- | --- |
| **Current Streak** | Number of consecutive days the student has been active. Resets after a missed day |
| **Total Sessions** | Number of distinct days with recorded activity |
| **Total Time Spent** | Cumulative minutes the student has spent on Quran activities |
| **Total Page Views** | Number of recorded activity entries |
| **Total Listening Time** | Total recorded time, in hours |
| **Rank** | Not yet calculated — shows N/A |

## Time Range

The Stats tab shows the current year. The page has no period selector yet; the ranges below exist in the code, and **This Year** is the one used:

| Period | Range |
| --- | --- |
| **This Week** | From the start of the current week to today |
| **This Month** | From the 1st of the current month to today |
| **This Year** | From January 1st of the current year to today (default) |

## Student Activity Heatmap

A contribution-style heatmap displays the student’s daily activity from January 1 to December 31 of the current year.

| Color | Approximate time spent |
| --- | --- |
| White / no fill | 0 minutes |
| Lightest blue | 1–15 minutes |
| Light blue | 16–30 minutes |
| Medium blue | 31–45 minutes |
| Dark blue | 46–60 minutes |
| Deepest blue | More than 60 minutes |

Hover over a day in the heatmap to see the exact minutes spent. The legend at the top of the heatmap card shows the color-to-time mapping (from “0 Minutes” to “60 Minutes”).

## Calendar Streak View

Below the heatmap is a monthly calendar view showing daily progress with visual streak indicators:

| Color | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| **Red** | Up to 15 minutes |
| **Amber** | 16–30 minutes |
| **Amber** | 31–45 minutes |
| **Green** | More than 45 minutes (ring full at 60) |

Each day in the calendar shows a colored progress ring indicating how much time the student spent that day.

## How Streak Is Calculated

The current streak counts consecutive days where the student spent at least some time in Studio. The logic:

-   Today and yesterday are checked first
-   If today is active, it counts toward the streak
-   The streak counts back through consecutive active days
-   A missed day breaks the streak — it resets to zero from that point forward

> **Tip**

> Use streak and activity data to identify students who need re-engagement. A long zero-activity period in the heatmap is a clear signal to reach out — by message in [Discussions](https://ilmiya.com/docs/console/inbox/discussions/) or directly with the student’s teacher.

> **Note**
>
> Stats data reflects time recorded in Quran reading and recitation sessions. Time spent outside these sessions (e.g. browsing the catalog, viewing announcements) is not included in the totals.
