One of the most important facts about a Surah is whether it was revealed in Makkah or Madinah:

TypeCharacteristics
MakkiRevealed before the Hijra — generally focuses on faith, Tawheed, the afterlife, and stories of the Prophets
MadaniRevealed after the Hijra — generally focuses on law, social guidance, and community affairs

Understanding whether a Surah is Makki or Madani helps you interpret its themes and context more accurately.

From the Surah information panel (or by tapping a specific verse), you can find similar verses — other places in the Quran where the same phrase or concept appears. This is useful for:

  • Understanding how a phrase is used consistently across the Quran
  • Cross-referencing related verses during study
  • Memorization — recognising shared phrases between Surahs

From any verse context menu you can:

  • Copy the verse text to your clipboard
  • Share the verse as a formatted card to social media or messaging apps
  • View verse history — your past recitations of that verse
  • Add to notes — save the verse with a personal note
