Makki vs Madani
Section titled “Makki vs Madani”One of the most important facts about a Surah is whether it was revealed in Makkah or Madinah:
| Type | Characteristics |
|---|---|
| Makki | Revealed before the Hijra — generally focuses on faith, Tawheed, the afterlife, and stories of the Prophets |
| Madani | Revealed after the Hijra — generally focuses on law, social guidance, and community affairs |
Understanding whether a Surah is Makki or Madani helps you interpret its themes and context more accurately.
