Quran Tab

The Quran tab is the first tab in a student’s Canvas detail view. It shows the complete list of Quranic surahs and lets you control which ones the student can read or recite, plus jump straight into Read, Recite, or Judge mode for any surah.

  1. From the Students List, click a student.
  2. The detail view opens on the Quran tab by default.

At the top of the Quran tab you’ll see three mode buttons that change what action runs when you click a surah:

ModeWhat it does
Read modeOpen the surah in the read template for grading
Recite modeOpen the surah in recite mode for pronunciation assessment
Judge modeOpen the surah in judge mode for live evaluation

The selected mode determines which action runs when you click a surah row, and which access toggle column is shown.

Search the surah list by:

  • Surah number (e.g. 1, 36, 114)
  • Transliterated name (e.g. “Al-Fatiha”, “Ya-Sin”)
  • Translation meaning (e.g. “The Opening”)
  • Revelation type (“Meccan”, “Medinan”)

Toggle between layouts:

Read Access / Recite AccessToggle to grant or restrict the student’s access — column label depends on the active mode

All columns are sortable — click a column header to sort ascending or descending.

The Read Access and Recite Access toggles let you control which surahs a specific student can access. Toggle the switch to grant or revoke access:

ModeToggle column
Read modeShows Read Access toggles — controls whether the student can open the surah for reading
Recite modeShows Recite Access toggles — controls whether the student can record a recitation for the surah
Judge modeNo access toggle shown — judge mode is teacher-only

When you toggle access:

  1. The switch updates immediately with a loading state.
  2. A toast notification confirms the change (e.g. “Read access granted for Surah 2”).
  3. The student’s permission updates in the backend instantly — no save button needed.

Click a surah’s name (or its grid card) to jump straight into the selected mode for that student:

Read modeThe reading template editor for that student and surah
Recite modeThe recite assessment view
Judge modeThe judge evaluation view

These views let you grade, assess, or evaluate the student directly on the surah you selected.
