Messages

The Messages tab shows all message threads that students have sent to you or your organization. Unlike channels (which are group discussions), messages are direct threads between a student and the teacher/admin — used for questions, requests, or personal communication.

  1. Click Inbox in the Console navigation.
  2. Select the Messages tab.

Each message thread is listed with:

Last activityWhen the most recent reply was added
Reply countTotal number of replies in the thread

Use the status filter to narrow the list:

FilterShows
AllEvery thread regardless of status
OpenActive threads awaiting a response
ResolvedThreads marked as resolved

Use the search bar to find a thread by subject line.

Click on any thread to open the full conversation — you’ll see the student’s original message and all replies in chronological order.

  1. Open a message thread.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the replies.
  3. Click Add Reply.
  4. Type your response.
  5. Click Send.

Your reply is added to the thread and the student is notified automatically.

After resolving a student’s query, update the thread status:

  1. Open the thread.
  2. Click the status control (top of the thread).
  3. Change to Resolved or Closed.
StatusMeaning
OpenActive — student’s query is pending a response
ResolvedQuery answered — thread closed successfully
ClosedThread closed without resolution or after resolution
