File Uploads

You can attach files to any message in Aide. The AI reads the file content alongside your prompt and responds with context taken directly from what you uploaded.

Supported File Types

Type	Formats
Documents	PDF, plain text (.txt)
Images	PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF, WebP
Spreadsheets	CSV
Other text	Any plain text file

Maximum file size: 25MB per file.

How to Upload a File

1. Click the paperclip / upload icon in the input bar.
2. The file upload modal opens.
3. Select your file from your device (or drag and drop).
4. The file is attached and shown as a preview above the input.
5. Type your message or question about the file.
6. Send — the AI receives both the file and your prompt together.

Alternatively, click Upload from the welcome screen quick-actions before starting a conversation.

What the AI Can Do With Your File

File type	What you can ask
PDF / text	Summarize it, explain sections, answer questions about the content, extract key points
Image	Describe what’s in it, explain a diagram, read text in the image
CSV	Analyse the data, identify trends, answer questions about the values

Example Prompts With Files

• Attach a PDF essay → “What are the main arguments in this essay?”
• Attach a biology diagram image → “Explain what this diagram is showing”
• Attach a CSV → “What is the average value in the third column?”
• Attach a text file of notes → “Turn these notes into a structured study guide”

Tip

Be specific in your prompt when uploading a file. Instead of “what is this?”, ask “summarize the key points from this PDF in bullet points” — you’ll get a much more useful response.

Note

Files are converted and sent securely as part of your message. They are not stored permanently — if you need the AI to refer to the same file in a new conversation, upload it again.
