Direct Messages
Direct Messages let you have private conversations with individual users — classmates, teachers, or administrators. Unlike channels, direct messages are only visible to the two people in the conversation.
Accessing Direct Messages
Section titled “Accessing Direct Messages”- Click Inbox in the top navigation.
- Select the Messages tab.
- Your existing message threads are listed here, sorted by most recent.
Starting a New Conversation
Section titled “Starting a New Conversation”- Click the Compose button (pencil/write icon) in the Messages tab.
- Search for the user you want to message by name.
- Select them from the results.
- Type your message in the input field.
- Press Enter or click Send.
A new thread will be created and will appear at the top of your Messages list.
Sending Messages in an Existing Thread
Section titled “Sending Messages in an Existing Thread”- Click on any existing thread in the Messages tab to open it.
- Type your message in the input at the bottom of the thread.
- Press Enter or click Send.
Messages appear in real time — if the other person is online, they’ll see your message immediately.
Message Thread View
Section titled “Message Thread View”Inside a thread you can see the full conversation history with that user:
- Messages are in chronological order
- Each message shows the sender’s avatar, name, and timestamp
- New unread messages are indicated when you open the thread
Managing Your Messages
Section titled “Managing Your Messages”| Action | How to do it |

| Find an old thread | Scroll through the Messages list or use search |
| Read a conversation | Click the thread to open it |
| Send a new message | Click Compose and find the user |
| Check unread messages | Unread threads are highlighted in the list |
