Navigating Canvas

Canvas has a clean layout built around the Quran. Here’s a map of the key areas so you know where everything is before you start.

When you first open Canvas, you’ll see the home screen with a set of tabs across the top:

TabWhat it opens
QuranThe main Quran reading and navigation interface (default)
StatsYour personal statistics — heatmap, hours, pages, rank, streak
RankYour leaderboard position within your organization
RadioStream Quran recitations from a variety of channels
PrayerPrayer times based on your location
SettingsCustomize your font, reciter, translation, and theme

The sidebar on the left gives you three ways to navigate the Quran:

Sidebar TabWhat it shows
ChaptersAll 114 Surahs listed by number and name
JuzAll 30 Juz (Para) divisions
PagesAll 604 Mushaf pages

Click any item in the sidebar to jump directly to that Surah, Juz, or Page.

The centre of the screen is the reading area where Quranic text is displayed. Depending on the mode you’re in, you’ll see:

  • Arabic text (with or without Tajweed colouring)
  • Word-by-word translation and transliteration
  • Verse numbers and navigation controls

The toolbar at the bottom of the reading area contains:

  • Audio controls — play, pause, seek, volume, reciter selection
  • Drawing tools — brush, eraser, colour picker (for annotation mode)
  • Mode switcher — switch between Read, Translate, Recite, Judge, Tafsir, and Memorize modes

The top bar contains:

  • The Ilmiya/Canvas logo — click to return to the home screen
  • Navigation links — switch between Canvas sections (Practice, Memorize, Stats, etc.)
  • User menu — access your profile and sign out

Beyond the main reading interface, Canvas has dedicated sections accessible from the top navigation:
