Listening

You can listen to any verse or full Surah in Canvas using the built-in audio player. The player is available at the bottom of the reading area whenever you’re viewing a Surah.

Playing a Verse

1. Open any Surah from the sidebar.
2. Tap the play icon next to any individual verse.
3. The audio for that verse plays immediately.
4. The current word being recited is highlighted in the text as the audio plays.

Playing a Full Surah

1. Open a Surah.
2. Click the Play button in the bottom audio toolbar.
3. The player starts from the first verse and plays through to the end automatically.
4. Verses are highlighted one by one as audio progresses.

Audio Player Controls

Control	Function
Play / Pause	Start or pause playback
Previous	Go back to the previous verse
Next	Skip to the next verse
Progress slider	Seek to any point within a verse
Volume	Adjust playback volume
Reciter selector	Switch reciters without leaving the Surah

Repeat Modes

The audio player supports several repeat options:

Mode	Behaviour
No repeat	Plays through the Surah once and stops
Repeat verse	Loops the current verse continuously
Repeat Surah	Loops the entire Surah after it ends
Repeat range	Loops a selected range of verses (useful for memorization)

Tip

Use Repeat verse mode when practising a specific Ayah — listen to it several times before attempting to recite it yourself.

Word-Level Highlighting

While audio is playing, Canvas highlights each word in real time as it is recited. This makes it easy to follow along and helps connect the sound of each word to its written form.

Changing Reciter During Playback

You can switch reciters at any time using the reciter selector in the audio toolbar. Playback restarts from the current verse with the newly selected reciter.

Note

Audio requires an active internet connection. If playback stutters or fails, check your connection — the player will retry automatically.
